First and foremost, welcome home to our little warrior Brooklyn! She arrived with Jenny and Grandma and Grandpa Young this afternoon and her siblings were so excited to meet her!
They even spoiled her with all of their stuffed animals...
And while they've each had a chance to hold her, Grant wanted to be the first.
We feel so blessed to have her home less than a week since she was born. Thanks again to all who have supported us during this time of experience. And specific thank yous to the following:
The kind people who cared for Brooklyn so well, including the nurses, neurosurgeon team, doctors, and staff at Primary Chilren's Medical Center and the U of U hospital (I'm afraid I'll have to be careful laughing at U of U jokes after how well they treated us there)
Mom and Dad Young for taking such good care of all of us
All the family who helped us at the hospital and friends who visited us there
All the neighbors who have been running our kids to and from school and having them over
My students for their patience waiting for exams to be graded and grades to be posted
All the well-wishers and those praying for Brooklyn - you've made such a difference
Those who are surprising us with the 12 Days of Christmas
Those who have brought meals (or who have wanted to)
Those whom I am not remembering at the moment...
While Brooklyn still has plenty to go through, this week has taught us a lot about growth and reliance on divine assistance, be it for miracles or comfort in times of need. I know Brooklyn has been and will continue to be blessed by lots of loving kindness. The same goes for modern medicine. I also know she has a near-perfect mother, a father who will hang on for the ride ahead, and a set of siblings who will look out for her and will be her best friends. I also know she has a Heavenly Father who lovers her dearly and sent her to this earth with a purpose, which she will discover throughout her life, and that He sent His Son to make her happiness possible during this life and forever after this life.
Finally, I am confident Brooklyn will be a great blessing to so many. She will soften hearts, serve others, make people happy and bring out the best in those around her. I am grateful she is part of our family and I am excited to see what she accomplishes, starting tomorrow!
Chad, your writing brings great tears to my eyes and all I can say is "Amen" to the many beautiful thoughts you have shared. Enjoy your day and the days ahead. I know that your mom and dad are very anxious to get there.
