A Mother's Day trip to Primary Children's

Jenny has been seeing Brooklyn's eyes act a bit abnormally and we called in to speak with neurosurgery to find out if we should bring Brooklyn in to be seen and were told we should.  So Jenny and Brooklyn will head down today to see if anything is amiss with the shunt.  While not what we would hope, we do have hope that things will work out.  The timing of this trip, being Mothers Day, is somehow helpful in a way.  It helps me stop and realize/recognize a bit more, if not a lot more, how blessed I am to have the perfect mother for my sweet daughter.

Jenny has been such a rock with all of our children.  She probably worries about them a bit too much, but I'll take that over the alternative any day, any hour, any minute. With Brooklyn in particular, she is so in tune with Brooklyn's life, including what is normal for Brooklyn and what is not, that she is able to sense and act when appropriate and hold off overreacting when things are fine.  And I love seeing Brooklyn stare up at her mother - such appreciation and love goes both ways in those stares.  I guess my greatest blessing to feel today is that I have been blessed to have a mother for my children who handles challenges with faith, appropriate action, understanding, and love.

I'm sure there are plenty of times Jenny and all mothers wish they would have done or said things differently, but I do hope she and all mothers can recognize that the rest of us like to instead recall all the great things they have done for us and for our children, the wonderful people and examples mothers are, and especially recognize how much we appreciate the way mothers accept the rest of us, despite our many weaknesses and shortcomings. In other words, I hope they can treat themselves this day, if not every day, the way they treat us.

I'll try to post an update later today on the result of Brooklyn's visit. We love you all and thank you for your prayers and support!

  1. I am anxious to hear how the trip to Salt Lake goes today. I love the pictures of Brooklyn's first picture and the current one. Yes, she is amazing and has come a long way. Jenny is the perfect wife for you and the mother for your children. We love her so much. Thanks for keeping us posted. We love you.
